Proverbs 8 Matthew 11 Psalm 36:6 Romans 11:33
Proverbs 8:22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. 8:23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. 8:24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. 8:25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth 8:26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. 8:27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth 8:28 When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep 8:29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth
God used wisdom and intelligence in the design of the universe. wisdom was with God in creation. In the beginning, before there was ever an earth, God used wisdom in the making of something out of nothing.
Solomon considered many different aspects of creation and how God used wisdom to design and arrange them all.
He assigned to the sea its limit and established unalterable laws that set the boundaries for the earth, that the hostile sea cannot transgress. Even the incredible energy of the sea has to operate within strict limits.
The created world is so marked by God’s wise and good design that wisdom rejoiced in it, wisdom was also happy with the creation of man and expresses his delight in the sons of men
There is a verse in Psalm 36:6, which says that 'Thy judgments are a great deep'.
God's judgments are a great deep, how God deals with our lives is full of mystery. it becomes difficult for the mind to understand what is happening, if we are not careful we could place ourselves in danger of discounting the wisdom of these judgements and even doubting the intelligence behind them.
Most of us are tempted, when calamity comes, to regard it as purely accidental. Very few have the faith of the writer of these lines in Romans 8:28 'All things work together for good to them that love God'
When we can have that faith; and believe that there is a 'needs be' for each pain; when we can be convinced that there is an intelligence and a design in the circumstances of our lives, a wisdom that is far beyond our comprehension, to understand that the whole created order is founded on God’s wisdom, then to go against His wisdom is to go against all creation. When we belong to Jesus Christ and walk in His wisdom, all of creation works for us.
In Matthew 11, Jesus draws a comparison between Himself and John. John and his followers refrained from "eating or drinking", they had strict rules and disciplines about doing this. Jesus was criticised for eating and drinking, and dining with "tax collectors and sinners." Both apparently come in for criticism for their very different practice or style of ministry, yet what the critics failed to see was the work of Holy Spirit working through both
Jesus ended all the discourse by reminding them about the Wisdom of the Spirit.
Wisdom is justified by her children.”
Wisdom does not act merely to please the crowds, and the "crowds" cannot dictate what is 'good.' Whatever way the Spirit or wisdom works, either through the different styles of John's ministry or Jesus', its works, its fruits or children are the justification for it.
This is the mystery of God's dealings with His people, we do not yet see the completed picture, we cannot comprehend the finished plan, the plot of any story may not become clear until the end of the book. We have to read the last chapter. the last page, sometimes the very last sentence, before we can understand the Wisdom of the Father.
Prayer: Father we just thank You that we were known from before the foundation of the world, we have been placed in this world at exactly the right season, the right place in history for us to grow into Your Kingdom. One day the mystery will end and we shall see the finished picture and the plan will be complete.
