True Friendship

Scriptures

Proverbs 17:17 Luke 6:31 Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 1 Thessalonians 5:11 Colossians 3: 12-14 John 15: 12-14 Hebrews 13:5 John 13:34 WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS, ALL OUR SINS AND GRIEFS TO BEAR WHAT A PRIVILEGE TO CARRY EVERYTHING TO GOD IN PRAYER.

What a beautiful song this is. Yes, indeed what a friend we have in Jesus and can we find a friend as faithful as our Lord?

WHAT DOES FRIENDSHIP MEAN?

The dictionary defines friendship as a state of mutual trust, support and friendship between two or more people. Being able to be honest with each other and someone you can be real with. In Proverbs 17:17 we read that a friend always loves at all times.

WHAT IS CHRISTIAN FRIENDSHIP?

The Bible tells us in Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonians to encourage and build each other up. Having a friend who is a Christian can be a great blessing. Christian friendships regularly demonstrate kindness, patience, mercy, love, encouragement, grace, prayer, fellowship together and unconditional love.

WHAT DOES JESUS TEACH US ABOUT FRIENDSHIP?

In God’s word we read about how Jesus loved people without limits, and Jesus loved people unconditionally. Jesus always accepts people for the unique individuals we are. John 13:34 says: love one give to one another as I have loved you.” Jesus laid down His life for each one of us and this shows how much that we are loved by God.

JESUS CAN BE OUR FRIEND

As well as being our Lord and Saviour, Jesus can be our friend. Our Lord is always there for us and will never let us down no matter what our circumstances. Our Lord loves us unconditionally and God forgives us from all our sins. Jesus can be our best friend; He gave His life for us and in scripture we read he will never leave us or forsake us as he is with us always. So, we should never be discouraged.

Yes, indeed what a Friend we have in Jesus.

PRAYER:

Lord we pray that we would allow You to be our friend, our Lord and Saviour. Lord we pray that we will know that You are always with us, before us, in front of us and surrounding us with Your love grace, mercy, strength, peace, and compassion. AMEN
