Stand In Who God says You Are

Scriptures: Genesis 12:1-3 Judges 6:11-24 Exodus 3:1-14 Ephesians, all of it Philippians 4:8

Do you believe that you truly are who God says you are? In the Old Testament there are many times when the Angel of the Lord appeared specifically to challenge those He had come to meet with the revelation of who God says that they are. To lay out clearly and emphatically that they are not who society says they are, they are not who their circumstances and feelings say that they are, they are not what their own bad choices say that they are. They are who God says that they are. The Lord told Abraham, while he and Sarai were still childless, that he would make a great nation from him, and, despite all the unwise choices Abraham made because he failed to truly believe who God said he was, it came to pass. While Gideon was hiding from the Midianites, threshing corn in a wine press, God told him he was a mighty man of valour, his circumstances told him the complete opposite, but God’s words were the truth. Moses made a very foolish error in killing the Egyptian then fleeing and living as a shepherd for 40 years, until God met him at the burning bush and told him that he, Moses, would be the one to free the Israelites from their slavery. Even then Moses tried to sidestep it, but, as we know, he did. Always, who God says we are, despite our circumstances or our foolishness, is the truth.

In the New Testament, God Himself took on flesh and walked among men as Jesus Christ, offering to all the amazing opportunity to leave behind the false images of who they believe that they are, and live as the person who God says they are. It is time to take hold of this truth and stand IN who God says that you truly are.

The difference in surrendering to God and accepting who He says you are, alters your perception of yourself beyond measure. This is not arrogance or any form of deception, they are words from the Holy Spirit of the One True God, communicated to us through His Word. Here are just some examples of who God says that you are: 1. You are a child of God and precious in His sight 2. You are reconciled to God through Jesus Christ 3. You are not condemned by God, there is no guilt, no shame and no fear in Him 4. You have been justified 5. You are Christ’s righteousness 6. You are Christ's ambassador 7. You are completely forgiven 8. You are intentionally formed, created and tenderly loved by God 9. You are blameless and without reproach through the blood of Christ 10. You are the salt of the earth and the light of the world 11. You are a branch on Christ's vine 12. You are Christ's friend 13. You are a joint heir with Christ and part of Christ's inheritance 14. You are a member of the body of Christ 15. You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood and a holy nation. 16. You have not been given a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind 17. You have been bought with a price 18. You have been established, annointed and sealed by the blood of Christ 19. You are seated with Christ in the heavenly places 20. You are God's workmanship and you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you

As we ponder on and meditate upon who God says we are, seeking to know the depths of this brilliant revelation, so many of the instructions we are given on how to live in this world become more attainable. It is only through Christ in us that we have the strength and resilience to achieve these Godly standards. It is only through Christ that we are able to perform the good works that are already planned by God for us to do. It is only by believing who God says we are, that we are able to bring all glory, honour and praise to Him alone, there is no room for self glory in the person God has called you to be.

In these days of such global uncertainty and godlessness, our only Hope is Christ Jesus, standing within and upon His Truth is the only safe place to stand. The letter of Paul to the Ephesians lays out an exhortation for us to see exactly who God says we are and then we are told to stand firm, clad in the Armour of God, ready to face whatever fiery darts may be hurled at us.

Prayer: Abba Father, may we always remember these words and meditate on them: Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things In Jesus Name, Amen
